CSIR-IIIM launches 2026 Lavender Harvest Programme in Jammu and Kashmir

CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine launched the 2026 Lavender Harvest Programme in Jammu and Kashmir to promote science-driven sustainable farming.

Lavender cultivation has expanded in the union territory as an alternative to traditional crops on sloping land. CSIR-IIIM provides planting material, distillation training and market linkages for essential oils.

Aromatic plant programs aim to raise farmer incomes while supporting cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Kashmir’s climate suits lavender and rose cultivation in designated districts.

Officials described the harvest program as part of broader agrarian diversification policy in the region.
