Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh arrived in Riyadh on Sunday on a four-day official diplomatic mission to strengthen the Strategic Partnership Council between India and Saudi Arabia.
Upon landing at King Khalid International Airport, the minister was received by senior Saudi diplomatic envoys and the Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The high-level visit aims to expand bilateral collaboration across green hydrogen energy investments, sovereign wealth fund partnerships, and joint climate resilience projects in arid agricultural zones.
During his scheduled engagements, Singh will participate in plenary sessions of the Saudi Green Initiative forum and hold bilateral talks with Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and senior environment ministers. Discussions will center on expediting the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) infrastructure grid and expanding cross-border green electricity interconnectors across the Arabian Sea.
The minister is also slated to interact with prominent representatives of the 2.6-million-strong Indian expatriate community in Riyadh and Al Khobar. He will review consular digitization programs and inspect Indian community welfare centers to enhance migrant labor grievance redressal systems.
Diplomatic observers emphasize that relations between New Delhi and Riyadh have expanded beyond traditional crude oil buyer-seller dynamics into a multidimensional strategic security and investment alliance. Several memorandum agreements on environmental conservation and carbon management are anticipated to be signed during the official tour.
