Indian sailors Manu Francis and Prince Noble secured a historic silver medal in the men’s skiff competition at the 20th Asian Games, delivering the nation’s maiden sailing podium finish of the championship at Kaiyoh Yacht Harbor. Navigating through challenging tidal currents and shifting coastal winds, the Indian crew demonstrated exceptional boat handling and tactical awareness across twelve demanding fleet races.
Entering the double-points medal race in third position, Francis and Noble executed a daring tactical start along the favored windward mark, overtaking rival boats from Singapore and South Korea on the final downwind leg to cross the finishing line in second place. The courageous maneuvering elevated their overall aggregate score, successfully sealing the silver medal behind champions Japan.
Yachting Association of India officials congratulated the young sailors for their grit and tactical mastery, highlighting that training stints in European coastal waters substantially honed their high-speed skiff navigation capabilities. Maritime sports observers noted that the breakthrough podium finish marks a pivotal moment for Indian sailing on the continental stage.
