India NTA Referred Telegram Channel Complaints to Cybercrime for NEET Paper Leak Verification

National Testing Agency formally referred reports of Telegram channels purportedly selling NEET re-exam papers to cybercrime authorities for investigation and verification.

NTA received complaints and monitored social media alleging that question papers for the rescheduled medical entrance test were available for purchase on encrypted messaging platforms. Rather than dismissing the reports, the agency channeled them to investigators with expertise in digital evidence collection.

Cybercrime units can request Telegram to provide subscriber data and channel metadata subject to legal process. Previous exam leaks in India have traced back to Telegram administrators who used the platform’s broadcast features to reach paying customers.

NTA’s referral underscores the agency’s effort to prevent a second breach after the original NEET 2026 leak forced exam cancellation. Verification will determine whether the Telegram posts represent genuine leaks or fraudulent scams targeting desperate aspirants.

Results of the cybercrime investigation will inform NTA’s security preparations for the re-examination date.
