Microsoft 365 Copilot rolled out federated MCP connector support, allowing users to pull data from third-party productivity tools directly inside Word, Excel, and Teams. Initial integrations include Canva, HubSpot, Linear, and Notion.
MCP — Model Context Protocol — connectors let Copilot query external applications without manual copy-paste between platforms. Federated support means these connections operate across the Microsoft 365 environment rather than within isolated add-ins.
Canva integration brings design assets into document workflows, while HubSpot connects customer relationship data to office tasks. Linear and Notion links project management and note-taking content into Copilot-assisted sessions.
The rollout addresses a common enterprise complaint that AI assistants lack access to tools outside their native ecosystem. Microsoft positioned MCP support as a bridge between its productivity suite and the broader SaaS stack customers already use.
