An indigenously manufactured C-295 military transport aircraft has successfully completed its maiden test flight, marking a milestone for India’s defence manufacturing.
The first flight of the made-in-India aircraft represents progress in the domestic production of the transport platform, with 40 more units reported to be in various stages of manufacturing.
The C-295 is a medium tactical transport aircraft used for a range of military roles. Domestic assembly and production of such platforms is central to India’s drive for self-reliance in defence.
The achievement strengthens the country’s capacity to build advanced military aircraft at home, reducing dependence on imports and supporting the broader push to develop an indigenous aerospace manufacturing base.
