India’s HELINA Akash and BrahMos Systems Continue Strengthening National Defence Self-Reliance

India’s indigenous defence systems, including HELINA, Akash and BrahMos, are continuing to advance the country’s push for self-reliance in defence.

The platforms encompass the helicopter-launched NAG anti-tank missile, the Akash surface-to-air missile and the BrahMos cruise missile. Each has continued to reach production milestones as part of the domestic defence programme.

These systems address different operational needs, from anti-armour and air defence to long-range strike, reflecting the breadth of India’s missile development efforts.

Their continued production supports the broader goal of reducing dependence on imported weapons and building a stronger indigenous defence manufacturing base.
