Skyroot Aerospace sets launch window for India’s first private orbital rocket

Skyroot Aerospace set a launch window between July 12 and August 4, 2026, for India’s first private orbital rocket, Vikram-1, from the Sriharikota spaceport.

The Hyderabad-based startup has conducted suborbital tests and now aims to place payloads into orbit, a milestone no Indian private firm has yet achieved. ISRO has opened launch infrastructure to private players under revised space policy.

Vikram-1 uses solid-fuel stages designed for cost-efficient small satellite deployment. Success would strengthen India’s position in the commercial launch market alongside ISRO’s own vehicles.

Weather and technical readiness checks in the days before the window opens will determine the exact launch date.
