Wipro chairman says AI can transform IT client operations

Wipro chairman Rishad Premji said artificial intelligence can reshape how IT firms serve client operations. He also warned that AI-native companies are putting pressure on traditional information-technology revenue models.

The comments frame AI both as an opportunity to redesign client workflows and as a competitive threat to established outsourcing and services lines. Premji’s remarks place the challenge at the level of business models, not only tools.

For large Indian IT providers, that dual message highlights a shift in how software and services contracts may be won and priced as customers adopt AI-native vendors alongside, or instead of, conventional delivery models.
