Indian Railways Deploys Upgraded Kavach 5 Protection System on Mumbai Local Network

Indian Railways initiated the deployment of the upgraded Kavach 5 automatic train protection system across the Mumbai suburban rail network to enhance commuter safety.

The advanced signaling and collision-avoidance system automatically applies train brakes if an engine driver misses a stop signal or if electronic sensors detect track obstruction ahead.

Railway officials stated that retrofitting suburban EMU rakes with Kavach 5 will prevent signal passing at danger and improve operational punctuality during high-density rush hours.
