Major cybersecurity flaw discovered in popular smart home devices – Part 1

Cybersecurity researchers discovered a critical zero-day vulnerability affecting millions of popular smart home internet-of-things devices, including smart plugs, automated thermostats, and connected security cameras. The security flaw allows unauthorized remote attackers to execute arbitrary code and bypass local network authentication.

Security advisory bodies issued an immediate warning instructing consumers and enterprise network administrators to apply firmware patches released by hardware vendors and isolate smart devices onto segregated virtual local area networks.
