The sanctioned expansion packages encompass more than nine hundred kilometers of new track capacity spanning seven states including Maharashtra, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh. Ministry of Railways officials detailed that the civil engineering works will quadruple capacity along heavily congested industrial trunk routes, significantly expediting bulk freight haulage of coal, iron ore, and agricultural grain to major maritime export ports.
In addition to elevating line capacity and reducing passenger travel delays, the multi-tracking alignments will lower greenhouse gas emissions by shifting extensive heavy freight transport from diesel trucks to electrified rail logistics. Project execution will be monitored through integrated digital project tracking dashboards to ensure timely completion over the next forty-eight months.
