Delhi Police impose Section 163 of BNSS around New Delhi, advising against unauthorized assemblies

Delhi Police issued a formal regulatory order imposing Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita across key sectors of the New Delhi district, prohibiting unauthorized public gatherings, rallies, and speeches. The prohibitory directive was enforced following intelligence advisories indicating planned civil demonstrations and sit-ins that could disrupt traffic and compromise public safety.

Under the statutory restrictions, the assembly of five or more persons, carrying of defensive implements, and operation of amplified public address systems without prior magisterial permission are strictly prohibited. Police personnel established vehicular checkpoints along major arterial avenues, warning that violators will face immediate detention and prosecution under applicable legal provisions.

Civilian commuters were advised through traffic advisories to utilize public metro corridors and avoid central routes surrounding India Gate, Patel Chowk, and the Parliament perimeter. Law enforcement officials emphasized that the proactive security measures are designed to preserve communal peace and ensure uninterrupted movement for emergency public utility services.
