President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes to the former President of India, Shri K.R. Narayanan, on the occasion of his birth anniversary during a solemn commemorative ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Senior administrative officers, presidential aides, and staff members of the President’s Secretariat joined the ceremony to honor the enduring memory of the nation’s tenth President. The commemorative event paid homage to Narayanan’s lifelong commitment to constitutional rectitude, social justice, and democratic institution-building throughout his distinguished public career.
Born in Kerala, K.R. Narayanan rose through academic excellence and a storied diplomatic career—serving as India’s ambassador to major world capitals—before being elected Vice President and subsequently President of the Republic. Narayanan earned widespread respect as a working president who scrupulously safeguarded constitutional conventions and amplified the democratic voices of marginalized communities across India. Dignitaries present at the commemorative event remembered his profound scholarly wisdom, integrity, and landmark contributions toward strengthening parliamentary democracy and international diplomacy.
