Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill Hold Joint Record for Most Century Stands in IPL History

Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan equalled an Indian Premier League record for the most century partnerships by any batting pair, sharing their seventh 100-run stand together during the 2026 season.

The left-right combination surpassed previous duos including David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan, who had shared six century stands, as well as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Gill and Sudharsan also matched the joint record for most fifty-plus partnerships in IPL history, drawing level with legendary pairs such as Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle and Kohli.

Their consistency has anchored Gujarat’s top order throughout the campaign. Against Chennai Super Kings on May 21, the pair added 125 runs for the first wicket, with Gill reaching his half-century in 23 balls and Sudharsan recording his fifth consecutive fifty in the tournament.

Cricket statisticians note the pair reached 10 century stands in T20 cricket in just 46 innings together, a rate that ranks among the fastest in the format’s history and places them alongside elite international combinations including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

Against Chennai on May 21, Gill and Sudharsan’s stand was their seventh century partnership of the season, surpassing Warner and Dhawan’s long-standing IPL benchmark. Sudharsan reclaimed the Orange Cap for most runs during the same innings before eventually falling to the Super Kings bowling attack.
