BALLIA, UP (Friday, March 6, 2026) — The Ballia Police have arrested two brothers for the alleged abduction and physical assault of a married woman with mental health challenges. The case came to light after the victim’s husband filed a formal complaint at the Bansdih Police Station on Thursday, March 5.

- The Accused: The police have identified and arrested two brothers, both residents of the same locality:
- Santosh Kumar Thakur (alias Munna Thakur), aged 48.
- Rajesh Kumar Thakur (alias Guddu Thakur), aged 43.
- Charges: The duo has been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 137(2) (Abduction) and Section 115 (Voluntarily causing hurt).

Superintendent of Police (Ballia) stated that the victim has been sent for a medical examination to determine the full extent of the injuries sustained during the assault.
