Industrial output growth slows to 4.9% from 5.7%

Agencies and courts on June 2, 2026 noted that published accounts tied the story to wider national and sector coverage. India’s Index of Industrial Production grew 4.9% year on year in April 2026 under the rebased 2022-23 series, MoSPI data showed.

Subsequent updates explained that manufacturing output rose 6.2% while mining and quarrying contracted 5.1% in the quick estimate released for April. The April reading moderated from 5.7% growth reported for the prior comparison period in trade press.

In addition, capital goods posted the strongest use-based growth at 16% in the April breakdown.

Officials said further steps would follow as reviews continue.
