SpaceX began trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol SPCX just before 10 a.m. on June 12, with employees celebrating at a bell-ringing ceremony in Times Square.
The 75 billion dollar offering sold 555.6 million shares at 135 dollars each. Shares opened at 150 and settled near 161 by the close of regular trading.
The listing surpassed Saudi Aramco’s 2019 record to become the largest initial public offering in history.
Chief executive Elon Musk described the moment as the culmination of a 24-year journey for the aerospace company founded in El Segundo, California.
