Assam’s Second Sarma Ministry Includes Ministers from BJP Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front

Assam’s second Sarma ministry includes ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party, coalition partner Asom Gana Parishad and the Bodoland People’s Front after their combined victory in the 2026 state election.

Cabinet berths were distributed to reward AGP’s grassroots networks in upper Assam and BPF’s influence in Bodoland Territorial Council areas.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the alliance reflects a united front on flood defense, tea wages and border trade with Bhutan and Bangladesh.

Opposition parties argued that multi-party coalitions can obscure accountability, particularly on citizenship registry implementation and large infrastructure tenders.
