India’s External Affairs Ministry Summons US Envoy Again Over Attacks on Commercial Vessels Near Oman

India’s external affairs ministry summoned U.S. Charge d’Affaires Jason Meeks for a second time to protest deadly attacks on Indian commercial vessels near Oman, officials said Friday.

New Delhi condemned strikes that killed three Indian seafarers initially listed as missing after an attack on a commercial ship. Twenty-one crew members were rescued from a separate attacked vessel.

The protests came as India faces severe exposure to Iran war disruptions because the country imports roughly 90 percent of its crude oil through routes affected by Gulf conflict.

The U.S. embassy had no immediate public comment on the demarche.
