Ministry of Defence inks ₹661 crore deal for BrahMos fire control systems and naval launchers

The Ministry of Defence signed a procurement contract valued at 661 crore rupees with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited to supply advanced indigenous fire control systems and missile launch mechanisms for frontline naval warships. The capital acquisition agreement reflects sustained efforts to integrate state-of-the-art precision strike suites onto indigenous guided-missile stealth destroyers and guided-missile frigates under construction at public shipyards.

The newly contracted systems incorporate modernized digital computing architectures, electro-optical tracking modules, and secure redundant interfaces capable of engaging fast-moving maritime and littoral targets under intense electronic warfare jamming. Ministry officials noted that the launchers and tactical suites feature over eighty-five percent domestic industrial sourcing, engaging dozens of private sector micro, small, and medium enterprises across the country.

Naval strategic planners highlighted that outfitting combat vessels with upgraded supersonic cruise missile delivery platforms strengthens maritime deterrence across vital Indian Ocean sea lines of communication. Deliveries of the specialized naval systems are scheduled to commence in early 2027 under strict quality assurance oversight.
