NITI Aayog Releases Report on Boosting India’s Sports Equipment Export Potential

NITI Aayog released a report in New Delhi outlining strategies to position India as a global manufacturing hub for sports equipment, with emphasis on micro, small and medium enterprises.

Researchers identified export opportunities in cricket gear, fitness accessories and specialty textiles as global brands diversify suppliers beyond East Asian factories.

The policy paper recommends skill certifications, design incubators and easier access to export credit for workshops currently serving only domestic teams and schools.

Industry chambers welcomed the focus, noting India’s labor pool and raw material base could capture mid-market niches if quality testing labs meet international league standards.
