The second National Lok Adalat of the year, organised across Telangana, resolved a vast backlog of disputes in a single coordinated session, settling more than 9.28 lakh cases.
The matters disposed of included both pre-litigation cases and pending files already before the courts. Authorities reported that compensation and settlement awards totalling about ₹422 crore were disbursed across various categories of cases.
National Lok Adalats are held periodically under the National Legal Services Authority framework to promote amicable settlement of disputes. They cover compoundable criminal matters, motor accident claims, cheque dishonour cases, matrimonial disputes, bank recovery and other civil matters, helping reduce pendency in the formal court system.
By clearing such a large volume of cases at once, the Telangana event underscored the role of the Lok Adalat mechanism in providing speedy and cost-effective access to justice for litigants.
