Reviewing mid-stage progress of the Union Government’s administrative cleanliness and record-disposal drive, Union Minister of State for Personnel Dr. Jitendra Singh announced that 116 lakh square feet of prime office space has been freed across central ministries as of October 19. The nationwide Special Campaign focuses on institutionalizing office cleanliness, disposing of obsolete scrap assets, and clearing long-pending public grievances and parliamentary assurances.
Official evaluation reports presented during the review confirmed that the systematic weeding out of redundant physical files, unserviceable electronic waste, and condemned motor vehicles generated substantial non-tax revenue through transparent scrap auctions. Participating central ministries and public sector undertakings have transformed the reclaimed office floor space into modern employee wellness centers, digital meeting rooms, creches, and green working spaces.
Minister Singh commended administrative departments for accelerating the transition to digitized records management and paperless e-office platforms. Department of Administrative Reforms officials stated that real-time performance indicators will remain actively tracked across national digital dashboards to ensure that administrative efficiency and workspace hygiene become permanent institutional habits.
