Rapper Arivu detained during Jantar Mantar echo protest in Tamil Nadu

Tamil rapper Arivu was detained by police on Tuesday during a solidarity demonstration in Tamil Nadu held in echo of the protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over NEET-UG examination irregularities.

The artist, known for his politically charged music, was taken into custody along with other participants as authorities moved to disperse the gathering. He was released later in the day, according to reports of the incident.

Following his detention, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay extended an invitation to Arivu, a gesture that drew attention across the state’s political and entertainment circles amid the wider protest movement linked to the Cockroach Janta Party.

The Tamil Nadu demonstration was one of several solidarity protests held outside Delhi as the NEET-related agitation continued to draw participation from artists, students and political figures.

Arivu’s detention alongside other artists and activists at the Tamil Nadu demonstration reflects how the protest movement first ignited at Jantar Mantar has drawn solidarity actions well beyond Delhi in recent days.
