SpaceX Starship 39 Completed Successful 12th Test Flight on May 22 Ahead of Historic IPO

SpaceX’s Starship vehicle completed its 12th integrated test flight on May 22 from the company’s Starbase launch site in South Texas, advancing the reusable rocket program toward operational status.

Engineers said the flight met key performance benchmarks needed before Starship can support heavier payloads and eventual crew missions tied to NASA’s lunar exploration goals.

The successful test arrived weeks before SpaceX’s June 12 initial public offering, which investors watched as a barometer of market appetite for the company’s launch, satellite and artificial intelligence businesses.

Aerospace analysts said consistent Starship demonstrations reduce perceived technical risk around the vehicle, even as regulators and environmental groups continue scrutinizing launch frequency and coastal impact.

The offering priced 555.6 million shares at 135 dollars each, raising $75 billion in the largest IPO on record.
