Centre approves Rs 108 crore 4-lane road overbridge between Guntur and Nambur stations

The Ministry of Railways, in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh state government, granted formal financial sanction for the construction of a four-lane road overbridge spanning railway tracks between Guntur and Nambur stations at an estimated expenditure of one hundred and eight crore rupees. The capital allocation aims to replace a congested level crossing that has long caused chronic vehicular bottlenecks along the busy transit corridor.

Engineering blueprints indicate that the proposed four-lane structure will feature modern prestressed concrete spans, dedicated service lanes, and pedestrian safety corridors designed to withstand heavy commercial freight traffic. The project will be executed under a cost-sharing arrangement between Indian Railways and the state road development corporation, with tenders scheduled to be floated within the upcoming fiscal quarter.

Local trade associations and daily commuters praised the executive clearance, noting that the overbridge will significantly enhance connectivity between industrial estates, educational institutions, and healthcare complexes across the Guntur-Vijayawada urban cluster. Transport planners projected that eliminating the manual level gate will reduce transit delays and mitigate accident hazards along the high-frequency rail corridor.
