Elon Musk Becomes World’s First Trillionaire After SpaceX IPO Pushes Net Worth Past 1.2 Trillion Dollars

Elon Musk became the world’s first trillionaire after SpaceX’s IPO pushed his net worth past 1.2 trillion dollars on Friday.

Musk’s wealth combined his stake in the newly public aerospace company with his holdings in Tesla and other ventures. The milestone far exceeded the fortunes of any other individual on global wealth rankings.

Google co-founder Larry Page remained the second-richest person with a net worth of roughly 296 billion dollars, leaving a gap of nearly one trillion dollars between the top two.

Analysts said Musk’s paper wealth could fluctuate sharply with SpaceX’s share price, which opened at 150 dollars and settled around 161 dollars on debut day.

The offering priced 555.6 million shares at 135 dollars each, raising $75 billion in the largest IPO on record.
