Farmer leader Raju Shetti, Mahadev Jankar picked up by Delhi police

Delhi Police detained farmer leaders Raju Shetti, chief of the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana, and Mahadev Jankar, president of the Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, amid the ongoing wave of protests linked to the Cockroach Janta Party’s demonstrations in the capital.

Both leaders are prominent figures in Maharashtra’s farmer movement and had traveled to Delhi to participate in the agitation. Their detention adds to a growing list of political and farm leaders taken into custody as protests over NEET-UG irregularities and other grievances continue to draw participants from across the country.

Police have not detailed the specific charges, if any, against the two leaders, and it remains unclear whether they were released the same day.

Both leaders have previously played prominent roles in farmer agitations in Maharashtra, giving their detention in Delhi added significance for a farming constituency already watching the capital’s protest developments closely.
