Five Left parties announce nationwide week-long protests against Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls

A joint council comprising five major Left parties—including the Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI, Forward Bloc, Revolutionary Socialist Party, and CPI(ML) Liberation—announced a week-long nationwide agitation against ongoing electoral roll revisions. The joint campaign, scheduled to commence on September 26 and culminate on Gandhi Jayanti, aims to spotlight widespread irregularities in voter list modifications.

Left leaders stated during a joint press briefing that the unilateral implementation of revised demographic verification parameters threatens to strip marginalized laborers, rural migrants, and minority families of voting rights. They called upon civil society organizations, trade unions, and agrarian workers to join mass picket lines outside administrative revenue offices.

The coalition declared that democratic participation cannot be contingent upon arbitrary administrative algorithms or bureaucratic hurdles that exclude the working poor. Cadres across Kerala, West Bengal, Tripura, and Tamil Nadu have been directed to organize district-level signature campaigns and submit mass public petitions to district magistrates.
