Alleged Myanmar-based extremists kill four Nagas in Manipur’s Kamjong district

Tension escalated sharply along the international boundary in Manipur’s eastern Kamjong district following the fatal shooting of four Naga villagers by heavily armed insurgents suspected to have crossed from neighboring Myanmar. Local authorities confirmed that the victims were ambushed in remote forested terrain while tending to agricultural plots near border pillar markers.

Immediately following the attack, Assam Rifles battalions and state police commando units launched extensive jungle combing operations across the undulating border ridges to intercept the perpetrators. District magistrates clamped prohibitive orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, restricting public gatherings and enforcing nighttime vehicular curfews across vulnerable hamlets.

Apex tribal bodies in the hill districts condemned the killings as an unprovoked assault on communal tranquility, urging the Union Home Ministry to seal porous border tracts and fortify vulnerable villages. Security commanders met with community village elders to reassure residents and avert retaliatory communal escalations.
