A 30-year-old Guelph man faces assault charges after police say he punched a worker in the face without provocation and seized the victim’s clipboard before fleeing the scene.
Officers arrested the man following the July 28 incident and transported him for booking on allegations including assault and theft of the clipboard.
The victim received medical attention for facial injuries, according to the police media release, which did not identify either party by name.
Investigators described the confrontation as a random attack on a stranger performing routine duties in a public area.
The accused was scheduled to appear in court as the case proceeds through Ontario’s criminal process.
