Tension gripped parts of Salem district in Tamil Nadu after a 45-year-old real estate broker and history-sheeter, identified as David alias Udhayakumar, was hacked to death by an armed five-member gang in broad daylight. The violent assault occurred near the Pudhu Road flyover, where the assailants intercepted the victim before carrying out the fatal attack with deadly weapons.
Preliminary inquiries conducted by the local police revealed that the perpetrators ambushed Udhayakumar while he was traveling in the vicinity, leaving him with critical injuries before fleeing the scene on two-wheelers. Eyewitnesses immediately alerted local emergency authorities, but medical personnel pronounced the victim dead on arrival at a nearby government healthcare facility.
Senior police officers inspected the crime scene, and forensic teams gathered scientific evidence alongside surveillance recordings from security cameras along adjacent arterial roads. Police investigators have registered a murder case and formed multiple special search squads to apprehend the fleeing assailants, with early findings pointing toward longstanding business rivalries or gang-related retaliation as potential motives.
