IIT Madras opens nationwide registration for STEM School Connect initiative for Classes 9 to 12

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras commenced nationwide online registrations on Tuesday for the upcoming academic cohort of its flagship STEM School Connect outreach initiative, designed specifically for school students from Classes 9 through 12.

The specialized program, designed by premier engineering faculty and researchers, provides secondary school students with structured foundational exposure to artificial intelligence, electronic circuit prototyping, data science fundamentals, and sustainability engineering. Participating students receive access to hands-on digital laboratory simulators, recorded lecture modules, and interactive weekend tutoring sessions conducted by IIT researchers.

IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti announced that the outreach program aims to demystify complex engineering domains and ignite scientific curiosity among young minds, with a special emphasis on encouraging girls and scholars from government schools in rural districts. Scholarships and fee exemptions will be extended to students from economically backward households to ensure inclusive access to cutting-edge technical education.

Schools across all recognized educational boards, including CBSE, ICSE, and state boards, are eligible to enroll their student delegations. Students completing hands-on project assessments will receive formal institutional certifications and opportunities to participate in summer research immersion workshops at the IIT Madras campus in Chennai.
