INDIA bloc MPs stage mass sit-in at Rajghat demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation

Members of Parliament representing the opposition INDIA alliance staged an extensive protest demonstration at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial in Rajghat, demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The sit-in followed intense parliamentary debates and consultative meetings where opposition leaders alleged institutional bias in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

Senior leaders carrying placards and copies of the Constitution accused the poll management body of arbitrarily deleting eligible voters from minority and marginalized constituencies without adequate verification notices. The parliamentarians declared that their peaceful agitation will continue across state capitals until an independent parliamentary panel audits voter deletion databases across key electoral battlegrounds.

Treasury bench representatives rejected the allegations as politically motivated, defending the Election Commission’s constitutional impartiality and technical integrity. Law enforcement personnel maintained a substantial security perimeter around the memorial grounds, preventing marchers from advancing toward Nirvachan Sadan while ensuring public order.
