India denies reports about attack on fourth vessel in Gulf

India’s Ministry of External Affairs denied media reports Friday that a fourth Indian-crewed vessel had come under attack in the Gulf, saying the MT Liaki Freedom and its crew were safe.

Spokespersons said tracking data and owner communications confirmed the tanker’s continued voyage without hostile boarding or strike damage.

The clarification followed viral posts speculating that another missile event had endangered Indian sailors already shaken by earlier fatalities off Oman.

Officials cautioned against amplifying unverified ship-tracking screenshots that can mislabel routine course adjustments as emergency distress.

Shipping lines welcomed the statement but requested naval escorts for lingering convoys carrying crude through contested waters.

The MEA reiterated hotlines for families seeking status updates on registered Indian seafarers in the region.

Port agents in Mumbai said the MT Liaki Freedom maintained its scheduled routing after the ministry’s denial, easing insurer fears of a cascading attack pattern.
