IonQ Inc. said Tuesday it received final regulatory approval to complete its acquisition of SkyWater Technology Inc., the largest exclusively U.S.-based semiconductor foundry.
The quantum computing company, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, announced the clearance alongside SkyWater from College Park, Maryland, and Bloomington, Minnesota. Both firms said closing conditions were satisfied and they expected to finalize the merger on Friday, July 31, 2026.
IonQ stated the deal, first agreed in January 2026, should accelerate its hardware roadmap and secure a domestic supply chain for next-generation quantum processors.
SkyWater is slated to continue operating under its brand as a wholly owned subsidiary serving existing foundry customers while collaborating on quantum ecosystem development.
Investors tracked the transaction as a rare combination of pure-play quantum platforms with established U.S. chip manufacturing capacity.
