ISRO and European Space Agency extend bilateral peaceful space cooperation agreement through January 2032

The Indian Space Research Organisation and the European Space Agency finalized a comprehensive diplomatic protocol extending their long-standing bilateral agreement on the peaceful exploration of outer space through January 2032. The bilateral renewal was signed by senior aerospace administrators in Bengaluru, cementing over two decades of close scientific synergy between Indian and European space scientists.

The extended framework establishes enhanced mutual ground station tracking support, enabling ISRO’s Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network and ESA’s Estrack network to share deep-space antennas for interplanetary missions to the Moon, Mars, and the Sun. The agreement also provides for shared calibration facilities, joint climate data analysis from Earth observation satellites, and collaborative development of space debris tracking sensors.

Space scientists highlighted that international ground tracking collaboration drastically reduces operational mission risks and expands continuous communication windows for deep-space probes. Both space agencies expressed enthusiasm for upcoming collaborative scientific payloads designed to study solar coronal mass ejections and lunar surface mineralogy.
