Delhi Police and partner agencies continued coordinated anti-gang operations across five northern Indian states, making hundreds of arrests during a 48-hour crackdown dubbed Operation Gang Bust 2.0.
Authorities said 482 suspects were detained between May 5 and May 7 in raids at 1,014 locations across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Seizures included 141 pistols, 212 cartridges, 79 knives, 19 kilograms of narcotics and 24 vehicles.
Additional Commissioner Pramod Singh Kushwah said the drive targeted syndicates linked to Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti and domestic outfits including groups associated with Kapil Sangwan and Hashim Baba. Nine alleged Bhatti network operatives were among those arrested.
Police said the operation followed intelligence identifying shooters, financiers and logistics providers sustaining organized crime networks. Officials described the sweep as one of the largest simultaneous gang enforcement actions in recent Delhi policing history, with investigations continuing to trace additional handlers and financiers.
Special Commissioner Ravindra Singh Yadav said more than 1,000 teams executed simultaneous raids targeting shooters, SIM card providers and shelter operators. Police linked some detainees to arms trafficking networks supplying pistols used in contract killings across Delhi-NCR. Officials said further arrests were expected as investigators trace financiers and social media handlers supporting cross-border criminal coordination.
