More than six hundred leading cybersecurity specialists, telecom network engineers, and digital policymakers from across forty countries gathered in Mumbai on Tuesday for the opening proceedings of the APNIC 62 international conference.
The weeklong summit, hosted by the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre in partnership with the National Internet Exchange of India, focuses on fortifying regional internet routing architectures against border gateway protocol hijacking, accelerating IPv6 deployment, and safeguarding transoceanic subsea fiber cables. Delegations from major global internet service providers, cloud infrastructure conglomerates, and state regulatory authorities participated in plenary sessions.
Inaugurating the technical summit, senior Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology officials highlighted India’s position as a global leader in IPv6 transitions, with domestic network adoption exceeding eighty percent. Speakers emphasized that ensuring routing security through Resource Public Key Infrastructure is paramount for safeguarding financial transactions and mission-critical government platforms.
Conference working groups will conduct specialized workshops on automated domain security, quantum-resistant encryption, and internet exchange resilience across developing Pacific and South Asian island nations. The assembly will conclude by formulating technical policy proposals to guide regional internet governance bodies over the coming decade.
