PM Modi Hands Over Made-in-India Fast Patrol Vessel PS LESPWAR and 6 Ambulances to Seychelles

Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over a domestically manufactured fast patrol vessel, the PS LESPWAR, along with six ambulances to Seychelles during his state visit.

The handover also included utility vehicles and laser radial boats, with the package aimed at strengthening Seychelles’ maritime and coastal capabilities. The coastal patrol vessel was built in India, reflecting New Delhi’s push to support partner nations with indigenously produced equipment.

Maritime security has been a central theme of India-Seychelles cooperation, given the island nation’s strategic location in the Indian Ocean and shared concerns over piracy, illegal fishing and trafficking.

By providing both defence and civilian assets, India sought to demonstrate the breadth of its partnership, combining hard security support with assistance for healthcare and everyday services on the islands.
