S Jaishankar states India is in active discussions with Russia and Ukraine to resolve conflict

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar revealed that India is engaged in continuous, substantive diplomatic discussions with both Russian and Ukrainian leadership to explore workable diplomatic pathways toward ending the devastating hostilities in Eastern Europe. Speaking during a high-level ministerial panel at the Munich Leaders’ Meeting, Jaishankar underlined that New Delhi’s foreign policy engagement transcends rhetorical appeals, focusing instead on practical solutions to mitigate global economic disruptions.

The minister explained that Indian diplomatic delegations have maintained active communication channels regarding maritime trade safety along Black Sea corridors, securing global fertilizer supply chains, and preventing humanitarian disruptions in critical global energy markets. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foundational assertion that current global challenges cannot be resolved on modern battlefields and necessitate genuine diplomatic negotiations.

International policy observers noted that India’s balanced diplomatic relations position New Delhi as an effective interlocutor capable of fostering dialogue among divided geopolitical factions. Jaishankar emphasized that any enduring resolution must respect international law and address the fundamental security and economic vulnerabilities confronting developing nations across the Global South.
