SpaceX AI Segment xAI Posted 6.36 Billion Dollar Operating Loss in 2025 on 3.2 Billion in Revenue

The xAI segment which includes X recorded a widening operating loss in 2025 but also showed significant revenue growth of 22%.

SpaceX went public on June 12 with stock opening at 150 dollars per share and climbing 20% making it the largest IPO in recorded history.

SpaceX’s IPO combined with Tesla holdings lifted Musk’s personal wealth to over 1.2 trillion dollars making him the first trillionaire.

SpaceX shares opened at 150 and briefly surged to 176 dollars before settling around 161 at the close of regular trading.

Anthropic submitted its draft registration statement to the SEC at a valuation approaching one trillion dollars ahead of its planned IPO.

Investment bank Goldman Sachs forecast a quadrupling of IPO proceeds this year driven by three landmark technology listings.

The IPO of SpaceX which also includes the xAI segment was celebrated as the culmination of a 24-year journey from a small El Segundo warehouse.

A blog post on the SpaceX IPO pricing day argued it marks the opening of a long-awaited era when AI-era companies finally go public.

Online posts exaggerating the SpaceX IPO size claiming it raised $100 billion were debunked as the confirmed raise was $75 billion at $135 per share.

PBS NewsHour reported that the SpaceX IPO was the first of three planned AI-focused company IPOs in 2026 including Anthropic and OpenAI.
