Hyderabad Traffic Police and local law enforcement personnel arrested three youths and impounded their customized high-performance motorcycles following viral video clips showing them performing dangerous stunts on public roads. The incidents occurred along the busy Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge and Financial District arterial roads, sparking widespread public outrage online.
Police officials filed charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, citing rash driving, endangering human life, and creating public nuisance. Mechanics from the transport department also inspected the seized vehicles, identifying illegal exhaust modifications and removed registration number plates designed to evade speed cameras.
City police commissioners warned that parents allowing minors to handle modified superbikes will also face statutory penalties and license cancellations. Law enforcement authorities announced stepped-up night patrolling and automated speed-monitoring cameras along major elevated expressways to eradicate unauthorized street racing syndicates.
