U.S. says it helped in rescuing Indian MSV crew off the coast of Oman

U.S. Central Command said American naval aircraft and helicopters assisted in rescuing 14 Indian mariners from a motor sailing vessel in distress off Oman’s coast Saturday.

A P-8 maritime patrol plane directed rescue assets after the crew reported engine failure amid swells in the Arabian Sea.

Indian shipping registries identified the vessel as a coastal trader en route between Gulf ports and western India.

Survivors received medical checks aboard a U.S. destroyer before transfer to Omani authorities ashore.

The operation highlighted continued American naval presence despite announcements about easing pressure on Iran.

New Delhi thanked partners for swift coordination while emphasizing that Indian Navy assets routinely patrol the same corridor.

Coast Guard records show the motor sailing vessel departed Karachi last week laden with bagged cement bound for Kandla port in Gujarat.

Family members waiting in Gujarat received satellite phone updates once survivors reached Muscat hospitals for dehydration treatment.
