FSSAI opened an inquiry into Nestle India after a consumer’s social media complaint alleged an insect or larva was found inside a packet of Maggi instant noodles.
The video, viewed millions of times, prompted the regulator to request manufacturing line records, pest-control logs and samples from the production date cited in the complaint.
Nestle said it maintains rigorous quality gates and welcomed scientific testing to determine whether the contamination could have occurred after retail sale.
The case revives scrutiny of India’s most recognizable packaged food brand years after a separate lead controversy led to a temporary national ban and reformulated recipes.
