Google launched an AI conversational search feature called Ask Maps, integrating its Gemini model into navigation for smarter location discovery.
Users can ask natural-language questions about nearby places, routes and local information directly within Google Maps. The company said responses draw on real-time mapping data.
The rollout extends Google’s strategy of embedding Gemini across consumer products as competition from ChatGPT and Claude intensifies.
Ask Maps began rolling out to select markets with broader availability expected in coming months.
