Govt plans new indices to track informal mfg, services

In addition, the data architecture is expected to draw on ASUSE and Periodic Labour Force Survey sources with expanded local samples. This follows the revised formal-sector IIP with 2022-23 base year released on June 1, 2026.

Authorities also said india’s first Index of Services Production for the formal sector is expected around July 2026. MoSPI is also working on broader GDP methodology changes using more direct unincorporated-sector data.
