ISRO successfully executes second apogee raising maneuver for EOS-05 earth observation satellite

Mission controllers at the Indian Space Research Organisation successfully executed the second planned apogee-raising orbital maneuver for the newly launched EOS-05 earth observation satellite from the telemetry command center in Bengaluru.

Engineers at the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network fired the satellite’s on-board 440-Newton Liquid Apogee Motor for a duration of 1,240 seconds, successfully elevating the orbit’s farthest point to the predetermined operational altitude. Telemetry analysis verified that all spacecraft sub-systems, solar array deployment mechanisms, and attitude orientation sensors performed nominally during the critical propulsion burn.

The state-of-the-art EOS-05 satellite carries advanced optical and multi-spectral infrared imaging payloads designed to deliver high-resolution geospatial imagery for agricultural yield forecasting, urban planning, disaster monitoring, and coastal zone management. The enhanced spectral bands will enable real-time tracking of cyclical crop health, forest cover dynamics, and glacial lake expansions across the Himalayan belt.

ISRO stated that ground tracking stations in Sriharikota, Port Blair, and international ground support partners in Brunei and Mauritius maintained continuous telemetry lock during the thruster burn. Mission scientists confirmed that two subsequent circularization maneuvers are scheduled over the coming week to achieve the designated sun-synchronous polar orbit of 700 kilometers.

Spacecraft health parameters received at the Master Control Facility in Hassan revealed steady propellant consumption rates and optimal battery recharge cycles through the primary gallium-arsenide solar panels. Data processing centers confirmed that ground antenna reception pipelines are fully configured to receive synthetic aperture radar test telemetry.

Upon reaching its operational orbit, the National Remote Sensing Centre in Hyderabad will begin payload calibration and initial image transmission to deliver operational data to civil and defense user agencies.
