NDMA Issues Monsoon Season Disaster Preparedness Guidelines Ahead of Heavy Rainfall Forecasts

The National Disaster Management Authority has issued guidelines on monsoon-season disaster preparedness ahead of forecasts of heavy rainfall.

The guidelines for states cover early warning systems, evacuation protocols and coordination arrangements between agencies. They are intended to help administrations respond effectively to monsoon-related hazards.

The monsoon period frequently brings flooding, landslides and waterlogging across parts of the country, making advance preparation essential to limit loss of life and damage to property.

By setting out preparedness measures, the NDMA aims to ensure that states and local bodies are equipped to act swiftly when severe rainfall and its associated risks materialise during the season.
